Grow a Garden Mutations

Mutations multiply the value of pets and crops. Understanding them is essential for any serious trader. There are three mutations in the game, each with a verified value multiplier.

Mutation

Golden

20x

The Golden mutation gives pets and crops a shimmering gold appearance, multiplying their base value by 20. It is one of the most sought-after mutations in trading due to its dramatic value boost and recognizable visual effect. Golden items are a staple of mid-to-high tier trades.

Mutation

Rainbow

50x

The Rainbow mutation cycles through the color spectrum, making affected items visually spectacular. With a 50x value multiplier, Rainbow is a premium mutation that can turn even Common pets into valuable trade pieces. Rainbow items are highly prized and often trade for Legendary-tier values regardless of the base item.

Mutation

Shocked

100x

The Shocked mutation is one of the rarest and most valuable mutations in Grow a Garden, featuring crackling electric effects and a massive 100x value multiplier. A Shocked mutation on any pet instantly makes it one of the most valuable items in the game. Shocked pets are the holy grail of trading and command extraordinary value.

Mutation

Celestial

120x

The Celestial mutation wraps pets and crops in a shimmering starfield effect, multiplying base value by 120x. Added in 2025–2026 game updates, Celestial sits above Shocked in the mutation tier list and below Voidtouched. A Celestial Common pet easily reaches values that rival mid-tier Legendary pets, making it one of the most impactful mutation upgrades in the game.

Mutation

Voidtouched

135x

Voidtouched surrounds items in swirling void energy and multiplies base value by 135x — one of the highest single-item mutation multipliers available. A Voidtouched pet is worth more than a Shocked version of the same pet, making it among the rarest and most coveted single mutations. Voidtouched is also one of the two conditions needed to create the Abyssal combination mutation on crops.

Mutation

Abyssal

240x

Abyssal is the highest-multiplier combination mutation currently in Grow a Garden at 240x base value. It is a combination mutation — requiring both the Eclipsed and Voidtouched conditions to be active on the same crop simultaneously. Due to these extreme requirements, Abyssal crops are extraordinarily rare and represent some of the most valuable tradeable items in the game. Do not confuse the multiplier with the Voidtouched single mutation (135x).

Mutation

Moonlit

2x

The Moonlit mutation gives crops a soft silver glow, multiplying their base sell value by 2x. It is tied to nighttime mechanics — applied by pets such as the Wolf or Tanuki, or forced onto crops using the Night Staff (purchasable from the Sky Merchant for 12,000,000 Sheckles). Moonlit is also the trigger requirement for the Nightjar pet's 'Call of the Night' ability, making it a key part of nighttime farming synergies. Stacks with other mutations for compounding value.

Mutation

Bloodlit

4x

The Bloodlit mutation gives crops a deep crimson glow and multiplies their base sell value by 4x. It is associated with Blood Moon events and specific nighttime pet mechanics. When a Bloodlit-mutated fruit is consumed by the Nightjar pet, it triggers a Large Passive Boost to a random equipped pet — significantly more powerful than the Small Boost triggered by standard Moonlit fruit. Bloodlit stacks with other mutations for compounding value.

Ember

1x

The Ember mutation is a new pet mutation introduced in the Campfire Update (June 6, 2026). Unlike crop value multipliers, Ember is a pet buff mutation applied by the Fire Wisp's 'Heart of Fire' ability. When applied to a pet, it provides a 32% passive boost and a 32% XP boost — the highest single-mutation pet buff currently in the game. Applying Ember to a pet near Level 100 carries a risk of resetting its level; use Energy Chews to refresh Fire Wisp's cooldown. Note: Ember is currently a pet-only mutation and does not apply a sell price multiplier to crops in the same way as standard crop mutations.

How Mutations Affect Trade Value

Mutations directly multiply an item's base value. The formula is simple: mutated value = base value × mutation multiplier. This applies to both pets and crops.

Multipliers verified: Golden 20x, Rainbow 50x, Shocked 100x. Additionally, when multiple mutations stack (e.g., Wet + Shocked + Rainbow), values multiply further. A stacked combination can reach 5,000x+ the base value.
